I ADVISE YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM EF!!!!!
I am writing this review as I do not wish anyone to pass through the same horrible experience as I did at EF. After opening numerous complaints, EF have always ignored my request to provide me with a full refund, including EF Germany from where I purchased the course. I’m not used to criticize, but EF kind of deserves it. Read the following if you want to be convinced.
*At the beginning ,when I showed interest in the EF course, EF phoned me or e-mailed every week, pushing me to enroll into their course. Their attitude totally changed when I needed their help, at times never hearing from them.
*Advisory services were very unprofessional, as they claimed that I would be learning British English ,which highly influenced my decision to go through with the course, however the books provided were in US English.
*Upon arriving at my host family, the conditions were very poor.The apartment contained some very nasty odours, while the room and bathroom were extremely small, there wasn’t enough room to place my belongings well. The owner of the house required a lot of attention from his carers and never stopped shouting for their aid.
*I immediately contacted my mentor, who also happens to be the accommodation manager about my wish to change host-family. This e-mail has never been answered by the accommodation manager until this very day.
*I thus had to go to the accommodation office, and upon hearing that a good number of the host families provided very poor conditions, I decided to go to the EF residence.
*The EF residence was much more expensive and the room was very dusty, full of rubbish from the previous guests including socks and garbage bags. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, to the point that I could feel the springs in my back, causing me much pain!
*The amount of students in every class was too big, the maximum amount of students should have been 17 per class, at times this number was exceeded, resulting in a waste of time as there wasn’t enough room for everyone. The class was over crowded, since the classroom provided was too small for so many students, and too noisy to actually learn.
*The teacher allocated too much time for the student to finish their exercises, while the teacher wasted time on their personal matters.
For the amount of money paid, I expected the school to provide its students with a very good library, but the library didn’t even exist.
*While I expressed my wish to be placed in a class of a higher level, it took very long for EF to change my level, and still I was placed in too much of a low leveled class. At one point my level had been changed, and I was not notified about this changed, neither the teacher of the group knew about this!
*The director took very long to approach me, and when I confronted him to provide me with a full refund, he hesitated and referred me to customer support.
*When trying to contact them through their phone they didn’t answer me on multiple occasions, but when I phoned using a different mobile number they answered immediately, this is how unprofessional the service has been!
*I tried sorting the issues with EF Germany where I actually purchased the course from, explaining to them all of the issues I faced. They took two days to reply to my email even when sending them a ‘gentle reminder’. Ultimately, providing me with very poor solution, they decided to give me very miserable refund.
I can compare this service to a number of German and English courses which I enrolled in previously with other schools, and can confirm that all were way better than EF. Another language school would have to be gifted to do worse than EF.
I tried to keep this review as short as possible, but I could go on with more points...I will update this review should I receive a full refund and compensation for this traumatic experience, as that is the only solution for the traumatic experience to be better. Since EF have been so passive about this whole situation, I had to put forward my case with a lawyer.
