My name is Jasmina Ionkova, living and working in the fifth biggest city of Bulgaria by the name of Rousse. It is situated along the bank of the Danube River. Back in old times, people used to call the town the Miniature Vienna.
I am a pedagogue, i.e. social pedagogue, Master in Pedagogy and Certified Dyslexia Trainer with Östereichischer Dachverband Legasthenie.
I used to teach German at school for years on end, but what impressed me most was that kids would gain knowledge in different ways. Most of those who had difficulties learning their mother tongue would also have difficulties learning a foreign language, whether German or English.
What made me take up studying dyslexia was a kid I wanted to help to and who was diagnosed at a medical care unit as being a dyslectic child.
Thus all started for me in this field. I completed my special training with Östereichischer Dachverband Legasthenie and was sure that I was destined to do that.
In 2006 I established an association, and two years later, in 2008, I set up a dyslexia center.
I have elaborated my own training program, called “New Start”, based on diagnostics and the AFS method of Dr. Astrid Kopp-Duller.
Having met Dr. Astrid Kopp-Duller and Mario Engel gave me a new impetus and direction in my life. I really think I have found my way and a field I fit in best.
