Review after long-term experience with MedRoyal and Dr. Kurial in the Czech Republic
I am writing this review more than three years after the surgery, because only with time does it become clear what truly improves and what remains permanent.
I underwent an abdominoplasty with liposuction with Dr. Kurial through MedRoyal. The healing process and the aesthetic outcome still concern me to this day, especially the navel and the scars.
The navel is permanently unnaturally flat and stretched. It has no natural depth and, when standing, looks as if it has been pulled tight. In addition, it is shifted to the right. When looking down at the abdomen and imagining the center line from the breastbone to the pubic bone, my navel is positioned about two centimeters to the right of this line. This is not swelling and not a subjective perception, but a faulty placement that has not changed even after more than three years. Intensive massage and osteopathic treatments have not changed this. The shape and position remain unchanged.
The scar itself is also an issue. It runs from one iliac crest to the other and is still purple in many areas, very noticeable and hypertrophic, meaning raised upward. Despite consistent scar care over a long period of time, the appearance of the scar has only improved to a limited extent.
What is also often underestimated, in my view, are the internal scars. After such a major operation, internal tension and pulling develop, which can be noticeable not only locally but also in other parts of the body. One must be prepared for a long period of time to work on and compensate for these tensions. This is a process that requires patience, additional treatments, and a great deal of personal effort.
In my postoperative contact with the surgeon, I increasingly had the feeling that my concrete and long-standing problems were not truly being heard. Despite my feedback, photos, and videos, I was repeatedly told that the result was optimal and that my perception was subjective. No concrete solutions or acknowledgment of the need for correction were offered. Instead, it was repeatedly emphasized that the surgeon stands fully behind his work. I found this attitude frustrating, especially given that the described problems have not changed over the years.
In addition, I would like to mention that the return journey after the operation was very long and took over seven hours by car. In retrospect, this was certainly not ideal for the early healing phase. Today, I would advise anyone to choose a clinic close to home in order to make aftercare, follow-up appointments, and healing as gentle as possible.
This review is not intended to provoke emotions, but to convey realistic expectations. A tummy tuck is a major procedure with long-term consequences. It requires many years of personal initiative in the postoperative follow-up. Errors in shape and position, especially of the navel, can hardly be corrected later. I wish I had seen these aspects more clearly before making my decision.

Thank you for sharing your long-term feedback. We regret that you remain dissatisfied with certain aspects of the outcome; however, we would like to add important medical context to provide a balanced and factual perspective.
The procedure was performed on an abdominal area that had already been operated on approximately two years prior. During the initial consultations, the patient reported existing problems related to the previous surgery, including issues with scarring, tissue tightness, and tension. This background is medically relevant, as secondary procedures are inherently more complex than primary surgeries and carry a higher risk of altered healing and scar formation.
Based on available pre- and postoperative documentation, the surgical result was medically assessed as very good, showing a clear improvement in abdominal contour and overall appearance compared to the preoperative condition, while taking individual tissue characteristics into account.
Hypertrophic scarring represents an individual biological healing response that cannot be fully controlled surgically. The board-certified plastic surgeon addressed this proactively and proposed a specific, long-term treatment plan to improve scar quality over time. As postoperative care continued abroad, it was not possible to monitor to what extent the recommended therapy was implemented.
The surgeon demonstrated maximum cooperation in postoperative care, provided detailed explanations, and remained communicative and supportive throughout the follow-up period. From a medical standpoint, the outcome was considered optimized within the limits of the individual starting conditions and biological factors.
Kind regards
